As same as in later, it gives solution to create Sinhala text on a computer using an ordinary English keyboard. Or we can say, it is like writing Sinhala in English letters. But the final result comes in Sinhala letters.

Therefore, you do not have to refer to character maps and type weird key combinations to produce Sinhala text. Sinhala Writer is ideal for producing short, informal documents, which can then be easily used to produce complex formal documents.

The Sinhala Writer is a Java related application (i.e. created using JAVA programming Language). So you can not directly run it in a computer without having the Java Virtual Machine (JVM) installed.
